VICTORY LEADER, today sailing as VICTORY RAY, is a Bahamas-flagged Pure Car and Truck Carrier built in Vietnam in 2010. The vessel has a particularly strong Greek connection through Stamco Ship Management, which has managed the ship from Piraeus and continues to list her in its present car-carrier fleet. She traded for more than twelve years under the VICTORY LEADER name before being renamed VICTORY RAY in October 2022.
Built by Ha Long Shipbuilding Industry near Haiphong, Vietnam, the vessel measures 189.30 metres in length and approximately 32.3 metres in beam. She has a gross tonnage of 49,675 GT, deadweight of 13,363 tonnes according to current registry-style databases, and a vehicle capacity of approximately 4,914 cars.
The vessel was one of the larger vehicle carriers constructed by Ha Long during that period. Her construction contract was signed in May 2006, the keel was laid on 5 December 2007, she was launched on 21 July 2009, and delivery followed on 29 April 2010. Her sister vessel is VIOLET ACE – IMO 9395630.

Construction and Design
VICTORY LEADER was part of a programme of large PCTCs built at Ha Long Shipbuilding in Vietnam. Although the vessel was designed primarily for passenger cars, her Ro-Ro configuration also permits the transport of other wheeled cargo.
The propulsion plant is centred on a MAN B&W 6S60MC-C low-speed diesel engine driving a single propeller. Contemporary technical information gives a car capacity of approximately 4,914 units, placing the ship in the roughly 5,000-CEU segment that was common in global vehicle trades during the late 2000s.
Career as VICTORY LEADER
The vessel entered service in April 2010 as VICTORY LEADER and initially became closely associated with NYK Line operations. Photographic records from Europe show her wearing NYK RoRo colours, while during parts of her career she also worked under charter arrangements involving operators such as UECC.
Throughout this period, the underlying ownership structure remained connected with Ray Car Carriers, while Greek company Stamco Ship Management handled the vessel's technical management. U.S. Coast Guard records also historically identify Stamco as manager of IMO 9395628.
Renamed VICTORY RAY
In October 2022, the ship's twelve-year career under the VICTORY LEADER name came to an end when she was renamed VICTORY RAY. Importantly, this was not accompanied by a change of IMO, MMSI, call sign or Bahamas registry: she retained IMO 9395628, MMSI 311008700 and call sign C6XG4.
The new name also corresponds more closely with her registered owning company, Victory Ray Limited. Current official and commercial records continue to identify the ship as active, and Stamco's own 2026 fleet list includes VICTORY RAY among its car carriers.
Recent AIS records from August–September 2026 show the vessel continuing in deep-sea vehicle trades between Japan, North America and Australia.
Piraeus Connection
The Piraeus connection is particularly strong in this case because VICTORY LEADER was not merely an occasional visitor: her technical management has been associated with Stamco Ship Management of Greece.
The vessel was photographed at Drapetsona Bay on 10 May 2016, and again departing Piraeus on 9 January 2017. The latter appearance closely matches the period in which the ship entered the PiraeuShips archive.

VICTORY LEADER was recorded at Piraeus by PiraeuShips during her original identity and while under Greek technical management by Stamco Ship Management. The recording now preserves a previous chapter in the vessel's career, as IMO 9395628 was renamed VICTORY RAY in October 2022. More than sixteen years after delivery, the vessel remains active in international vehicle trades and continues to be managed from Greece.
