now PARIS EXPRESS / ex FILIPPA
MSC FILIPPA was the name carried for almost eight years by a large South Korean-built 12,562-TEU containership, recorded at Piraeus by PiraeuShips during her long-term charter employment with Mediterranean Shipping Company.
Built by Samsung Heavy Industries at Geoje in 2011, the vessel was delivered as FILIPPA before quickly becoming MSC FILIPPA in June of the same year. She retained the MSC identity until May 2019, when she was renamed PARIS EXPRESS.
Today, IMO 9447902 remains fully active as PARIS EXPRESS, sailing under the Singapore flag and employed in major Asia–Europe container services.

Built at Samsung Heavy Industries
The ship was constructed at Samsung Heavy Industries' Geoje shipyard, one of South Korea's principal builders of large containerships.
At more than 366 metres long and 48 metres wide, she represented a major generation of post-Panamax container tonnage when delivered in 2011.
Her nominal capacity of:
12,562 TEU
placed the vessel among the larger containerships operating on the main east-west trade lanes during the early 2010s.
Propulsion was originally provided by a large:
MAN B&W 12K98ME-C
two-stroke diesel engine developing approximately:
65,160 kW.
Historical technical publications quoted a service speed exceeding 25 knots, reflecting the substantially higher operating speeds common among large containerships of that period.
FILIPPA → MSC FILIPPA
The vessel was originally delivered under the simple name:
FILIPPA
but this identity lasted only briefly.
By June 2011, she had entered a long-term charter arrangement with Mediterranean Shipping Company and became:
MSC FILIPPA.
The name history for this first period was therefore:
FILIPPA → MSC FILIPPA
The vessel remained registered in Liberia and was managed by Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG of Hamburg during much of the MSC period.
A Large MSC Charter Ship
MSC FILIPPA was not originally an MSC-owned vessel in the traditional sense.
She was part of the enormous chartered fleet that allowed MSC to expand rapidly during the 2000s and 2010s.
Peter Döhle remained associated with the ship's technical management, while MSC employed her commercially within its worldwide liner network.
The vessel appeared regularly in major container ports across:
Asia
Northern Europe
the Mediterranean
and other mainline shipping regions.
Piraeus in 2017
MSC FILIPPA's Mediterranean operations brought the ship to Piraeus, which had by then developed into one of MSC's important regional container ports.
PiraeuShips recorded the vessel and published the dedicated MSC FILIPPA – IMO 9447902 entry in May 2017.
At that time she was recorded as:
Liberian flag
140,259 GT
146,073 DWT
and managed by:
Döhle Schiffahrt, Hamburg.
The footage therefore captures the vessel during the middle of her MSC charter period.
Renamed PARIS EXPRESS
In May 2019, the MSC FILIPPA identity came to an end.
The vessel was renamed:
PARIS EXPRESS
The established name sequence is:
FILIPPA → MSC FILIPPA → PARIS EXPRESS
She subsequently became associated with Seaspan Ship Management and continued to operate in long-distance liner trades.
From Liberia to Hong Kong and Singapore
During the years following the MSC charter, PARIS EXPRESS changed registry.
She operated for a period under the Hong Kong flag before transferring to the:
Singapore flag
Her current radio identity is:
MMSI: 563295500
Call Sign: 9V3853
Current commercial data associates the vessel with Seaspan and liner employment with Hapag-Lloyd, including Asia–Northern Europe services.
Still Active in 2026
PARIS EXPRESS remains fully operational in 2026, fifteen years after delivery.
She continues to trade between major Asian and European container ports, maintaining the long-distance liner role for which the vessel was originally designed.
The ship therefore remains
