ICE GRACE is a veteran refrigerated cargo ship, or reefer, built in Japan in 1988 and still active almost four decades later. The vessel was originally delivered as ANGLIAN REEFER, later became PARANA, and has sailed under the name ICE GRACE since October 2012. She is currently registered under the Bahamas flag and remains employed in international refrigerated cargo trades.
The ship measures 144.6 metres in length and 23.6 metres in beam, with a gross tonnage of 12,348 GT and deadweight of 14,932 tonnes. She was built by Hashihama Tadotsu Shipyard in Japan and was designed specifically for refrigerated cargo, combining large insulated cargo spaces with container capacity and deck cranes. Historical technical data gives about 19,900 m³ of refrigerated cargo space, capacity for approximately 151 TEU and four 8-tonne cargo cranes.
ICE GRACE has a direct connection with Piraeus. She was documented at Piraeus on 4 August 2017, heading towards the PCT container terminal at Ikonio, during the period when the vessel was trading under the Marshall Islands flag. This is the same period preserved in the original PiraeuShips entry.

History
The vessel entered service in 1988 as ANGLIAN REEFER. In April 2003 she was renamed PARANA, operating under the British flag for part of that period. In October 2012 she adopted the name ICE GRACE, initially under the Marshall Islands flag. She later transferred to the Bahamas register, while retaining the same IMO number throughout her career.
ICE GRACE belongs to an increasingly rare generation of conventional refrigerated cargo ships built before containerised reefer traffic became dominant. Despite her age, she remained active in 2026, with AIS history showing recent calls in Europe, West Africa and South America.
Piraeus Connection
The vessel’s Piraeus appearance is well documented. A photograph taken on 4 August 2017 records ICE GRACE at Piraeus while proceeding toward the PCT terminal at Ikonio. At that time she still carried the Marshall Islands MMSI 538004840, which is also the identification appearing in the original PiraeuShips page.
PiraeuShips Record
ICE GRACE was recorded at Piraeus by PiraeuShips during her 2017 visit to the port. Her inclusion in the archive is particularly interesting today because the ship remains active nearly 40 years after construction, representing a type of conventional refrigerated cargo vessel that has become increasingly uncommon in international shipping.
