AI GIANNIS was a Greek-flagged oil/chemical tanker operated by Avin International and closely associated with Piraeus during her Greek career. Built in Germany in 1998 as MARIELLA AMORETTI, the vessel was designed as a double-hull IMO Type 2/3 chemical/product tanker. She became AI GIANNIS in 2013 and subsequently operated under the Greek flag with Piraeus as her home port, regularly appearing at the port and its anchorage.
The tanker measures 132 metres in length and 24 metres in beam, with a gross tonnage of 10,925 GT and deadweight of 15,748 tonnes. She was constructed by Lindenau GmbH Schiffswerft und Maschinenfabrik in Kiel, Germany, for Marichem Europe. Contemporary reporting from her delivery described her as a sophisticated double-hull oil/chemical tanker built under RINA supervision.
The vessel has undergone several changes of name, flag and ownership since leaving Greek service. After the AI GIANNIS name disappeared in 2019, she successively traded as ZAUTRAC, SEA FALCON 1 and KAUTHAR. Current AIS databases in 2026 identify IMO 9166156 as BERBERA STAR 7, sailing under the Madagascar flag.

History
The vessel was delivered in 1998 as MARIELLA AMORETTI. Contemporary photographs taken before delivery at Lindenau identify her as a 15,750-dwt product tanker built for Marichem Europe. In April 2013 she was renamed AI GIANNIS, transferred to the Greek flag and entered service with Avin International.
The AI GIANNIS period ended in January 2019. She subsequently became ZAURAC/ZAUTRAC, then SEA FALCON 1 in 2023 and KAUTHAR later the same year. More recent records show another change to BERBERA STAR 7, under which the tanker remains active in 2026.
Piraeus Connection
AI GIANNIS had a particularly strong link with Piraeus during her Greek ownership. The original PiraeuShips entry lists Piraeus as her home port, while independent photographic records show the tanker departing Piraeus in January 2018, lying at the Piraeus anchorage in May 2018 and at Drapetsona Bay in August of the same year.

AI GIANNIS was recorded at Piraeus by PiraeuShips during her Greek-flagged career with Avin International. The recording now has considerably greater historical value, as the vessel has since passed through several identities and today continues trading as BERBERA STAR 7. It is a good example of how the PiraeuShips archive preserves vessels not only as they appeared at Piraeus, but also at a specific stage in their wider commercial history.
