CHRISTOS XLV is a Greek harbour and towing tug built for the Spanopoulos Group and today listed within the MEDTUGS fleet. The tug was constructed at New Hellenic Shipyards in Salamis, part of the Spanopoulos Group, and was inaugurated in July 2019 together with CHRISTOS XXX and CHRISTOS XXXI. It was designed for harbour towage, ship-assistance and firefighting duties in Greek waters.
With an overall length of 29 metres and a beam of 10.20 metres, CHRISTOS XLV is powered by three Baudouin diesel engines producing a combined 4,500 hp. The tug uses a triple-screw propulsion arrangement with fixed-pitch propellers operating in nozzles, giving it a bollard pull officially stated by Spanopoulos at 64 tonnes and a maximum speed of around 14 knots.
A notable feature of the vessel is its FiFi 1 firefighting capability. It is equipped with two JASON fire monitors and high-capacity fire pumps, allowing CHRISTOS XLV to support emergency response operations in addition to conventional towing work. The vessel also carries a towing hook with a safe working load of 65 tonnes and provides accommodation for up to eight persons.

Construction and Service
CHRISTOS XLV forms part of a series of modern tugs developed and built in Greece by the Spanopoulos Group. New Hellenic Shipyards described CHRISTOS XLV as part of a four-vessel sister-tug programme being completed at its Salamis facility, underlining the group’s move toward domestically designed and constructed high-powered harbour tugs.
The vessel was formally inaugurated on 11 July 2019 along with two other newly built Spanopoulos tugs. Since then, CHRISTOS XLV has remained closely associated with the Piraeus–Perama–Salamis port complex, performing harbour assistance and towing work. Recent AIS records continue to show frequent movements between Piraeus and Perama.
