VIKING VESTA – IMO 9852444
Viking's New-Generation 998-Guest Ocean Ship – Delivered in 2025
VIKING VESTA is one of the newest ships in Viking's ocean fleet, delivered by Fincantieri's Ancona shipyard on 26 June 2025.
The vessel represents an enlarged evolution of Viking's highly successful small-ocean-ship concept.
At approximately 239–240 metres in length and around 54,300 GT, she is larger than Viking's original 930-guest ocean ships but retains the company's defining low-density approach.
VIKING VESTA carries:
998 guests
in:
499 all-veranda staterooms.
The vessel began her inaugural Mediterranean season almost immediately after delivery and quickly developed a particularly close relationship with Piraeus, which became one of her principal Mediterranean turnaround ports.
She remains fully active in 2026.

Built at Ancona
VIKING VESTA was constructed at:
Fincantieri's Ancona shipyard.
She floated out on:
5 July 2024,
marking the transition from structural construction to final outfitting.
Fincantieri formally delivered the completed ship to Viking on:
26 June 2025.
A New Viking Generation
VIKING VESTA belongs to an enlarged generation of Viking ocean ships.
She followed:
VIKING VELA
and forms part of the continuing expansion of a fleet based around:
small passenger numbers,
all-balcony accommodation,
destination-focused cruising,
and the ability to access ports that cannot accommodate the largest contemporary cruise ships.
998 Guests
Viking deliberately limits VIKING VESTA to:
998 guests.
Accommodation consists of:
499 staterooms,
all equipped with:
private verandas.
Viking continues to classify VESTA as a:
small ship
despite her nearly 240-metre length.
54,300 GT or 53,769 GT?
Two figures appear in current sources.
Viking and Fincantieri commercially describe the vessel as approximately:
54,300 GT.
Formal registry databases list:
53,769 GT.
Both are legitimate representations of the same vessel, with the first being the rounded commercial figure and the second the registered tonnage.
Naming Ceremony in Split
Only three days after delivery, VIKING VESTA was officially named at:
Split, Croatia
on:
29 June 2025.
Her ceremonial godmother was Norwegian journalist:
Lene Tangevald-Jensen.
Inaugural Mediterranean Season
The new ship immediately began operating Mediterranean itineraries.
Her first season included voyages through:
Italy
Greece
Croatia
Montenegro
Turkey
and:
Northern European destinations later in the season.
Piraeus Becomes a Homeport
Piraeus rapidly became one of VIKING VESTA's important turnaround ports.
The vessel operated multiple departures from:
Athens / Piraeus
during 2025.
September schedules included cruises beginning directly at Piraeus toward:
Heraklion
Rhodes
Kuşadası
Çanakkale
and:
Istanbul.
PiraeuShips in 2025
PiraeuShips published the dedicated:
VIKING VESTA – IMO 9852444
entry in:
September 2025.
This is particularly valuable because the ship had only been delivered approximately:
three months earlier.
The archive therefore captures VIKING VESTA essentially at the beginning of her commercial career.
Piraeus Again in 2026
The connection with Piraeus continued strongly in:
2026.
VIKING VESTA repeatedly used the port for:
embarkation
disembarkation
and:
Mediterranean turnaround operations.
She departed Piraeus on 30 June 2026 on a Mediterranean and Adriatic voyage, and again on 25 August 2026.
October 2026
The relationship remains current.
VIKING VESTA departed:
Piraeus on 7 October 2026
for an Adriatic itinerary toward Venice, calling at:
Santorini
Katakolon
Corfu
Kotor
Dubrovnik
Zadar
and:
Koper.
Thus, unlike many archive entries where the Piraeus connection is historical, VIKING VESTA continues to use the port actively at the present time.
PiraeuShips Record
VIKING VESTA was recorded by PiraeuShips during the inaugural year of one of Viking's newest ocean cruise ships. Built by Fincantieri at Ancona, floated out in July 2024 and delivered on 26 June 2025, the approximately 54,300-GT vessel accommodates 998 guests in 499 all-veranda staterooms. Named in Split only days after delivery, VIKING VESTA immediately entered Mediterranean service and rapidly developed a strong relationship with Piraeus, which became one of her principal regional turnaround ports. The vessel continued multiple Athens departures throughout 2026, including another Piraeus departure in October. The PiraeuShips footage therefore preserves a brand-new cruise ship during the first months of a career in which Piraeus has already become one of its most important Mediterranean ports.
