ex MED XXIX – NEMECA ASD Firefighting Harbour Tug

REA is a modern Greek-flagged ASD harbour tug built in Turkey in 2018, originally delivered as MED XXIX for Med Marine.

The tug was acquired by Greek towage company NEMECA in 2025, renamed REA and transferred to the Greek flag and Piraeus registry.

At just under 22 metres in official NEMECA length, the tug combines compact dimensions with 3,700 bhp, Schottel azimuth propulsion, substantial towing equipment and dedicated firefighting capability.

REA is now an active working tug throughout the Piraeus–Elefsis industrial-port complex.

However, acquisition material for the former MED XXIX describes:

more than 60 tonnes of bollard pull.

This makes REA a powerful unit despite her compact dimensions.
