SUPERRUNNER JET is a Greek high-speed passenger and vehicle ferry operated by Seajets, with a career spanning more than 25 years under four different identities. Built by Fincantieri at Riva Trigoso, Italy, the vessel was originally delivered as SUPERSEACAT FOUR for Sea Containers and later became particularly well known in Greece as SPEEDRUNNER IV and SUPER RUNNER before receiving her present name in 2021.
She belongs to Fincantieri's MDV 1200 class of large high-speed monohull ferries. At approximately 100.3 metres long and 17.1 metres wide, SUPERRUNNER JET is powered by four Ruston 20RK270 diesel engines driving four KaMeWa waterjets, with a combined output of roughly 27,500 kW. Her original design allowed speeds approaching 40 knots, making her one of the characteristic fast monohulls of her generation.
A particularly important part of the ship's history is her long connection with Piraeus. As SPEEDRUNNER IV she operated from Piraeus for Aegean Speed Lines from 2009, serving the Western Cyclades and at different periods Paros and Naxos. The vessel is therefore much more than an occasional Piraeus visitor: Piraeus was one of the principal bases of her Greek career.

From SUPERSEACAT FOUR to SUPERRUNNER JET
The vessel was launched at Riva Trigoso in 1998 and delivered in 1999 as SUPERSEACAT FOUR. She had originally been intended for a Sea Containers high-speed Mediterranean service, but those plans were abandoned and the ship initially remained laid up at La Spezia. She finally entered regular service in April 2000, operating between Helsinki and Tallinn for Silja Line.

The move to Greece was particularly significant. Under Aegean Speed Lines, SPEEDRUNNER IV became closely associated with Piraeus and the Cyclades, serving destinations including Serifos, Sifnos, Milos, Kimolos, Folegandros, Paros and Naxos during different seasons.
After the 2016 season she was acquired by Golden Star Ferries and renamed SUPER RUNNER, transferring much of her activity to Rafina. In 2021, Golden Star sold the vessel to Seajets as part of a wider transaction involving several ships, and she became SUPERRUNNER JET.
2026 Service
SUPERRUNNER JET remains very much active in 2026. Current AIS records on 8 September 2026 show the vessel moving in the Aegean, while during the 2026 season she has been employed on Cycladic services involving Rafina, Andros, Tinos, Mykonos, Paros and Naxos.
On 25 May 2026, her stern ramp made contact with the quay during berthing at Paros. A temporary sailing prohibition was imposed, but following inspection and presentation of the required seaworthiness certificate it was lifted and the vessel continued her scheduled voyage to Naxos. There were no indications of a lasting effect on her service.
Piraeus Connection
The Piraeus connection is especially strong for IMO 9141883. Following her transfer to Greece, SPEEDRUNNER IV became one of Aegean Speed Lines' principal Piraeus-based high-speed ferries, operating from the port for several consecutive seasons.
