ARMENISTIS is a veteran Norwegian-built Ro-Ro whose career stretches back to the early 1970s and includes service in Britain, New Zealand, Canada and Greece.
Originally completed as ANDERIDA for Stena-related interests, she spent decades in freight and mixed passenger/cargo operation before becoming particularly well known in Canada as:
C.T.M.A. VOYAGEUR.
After more than thirty years in Canadian service, the vessel was sold to Greek company AINAFTIS in 2020 and renamed ARMENISTIS.
The Greek chapter proved relatively short. Later registry records transferred the vessel to the Togo flag, and she is currently listed as laid up / under repair rather than in regular commercial service.

The vessel was launched in Norway in:
December 1971
and entered service the following year as:
ANDERIDA.
She was originally designed as a highly specialised freight ferry with the capability to carry:
road vehicles
and:
railway wagons.
This explains her unusually practical and robust configuration.
ANDERIDA was associated with services for:
British Rail / Sealink
during the first decade of her career.
She operated freight-oriented routes and became part of the complex cross-Channel and regional cargo-ferry network of the period.
In 1981, the vessel became:
TRUCK TRADER.
Interestingly, this also marked an earlier Greek connection.
During this period the vessel came under Greek-related ownership and was registered at:
Piraeus.
Therefore, her sale to Greece in 2020 was not actually the first Greek chapter of her career.
The vessel was renamed:
SEALINK
in 1984.
She subsequently transferred to the South Pacific and was registered at:
Wellington, New Zealand.
In 1986, the ship became:
MIRELA.
This identity proved extremely brief.
By the end of the year, she had been sold to Canadian interests.
In 1987, the vessel entered what became the longest and best-known chapter of her career.
She was renamed:
C.T.M.A. VOYAGEUR.
For more than three decades she operated for the Canadian:
Coopérative de Transport Maritime et Aérien – CTMA
serving the Magdalen Islands and eastern Canadian routes.
C.T.M.A. VOYAGEUR carried freight and limited passenger traffic between ports including:
Montreal
Cap-aux-Meules
Matane
and other eastern Canadian destinations.
The vessel's ability to carry commercial vehicles and freight made her particularly important in maintaining supplies to the Magdalen Islands.
After approximately:
33 years
with her Canadian identity, C.T.M.A. VOYAGEUR was sold in early:
2020
to Greek company:
AINAFTIS.
She crossed the Atlantic and was renamed:
ARMENISTIS.
ARMENISTIS initially entered the:
Greek flag
with:
Chios
as port of registry.
The vessel appeared in Piraeus during the early stages of this new ownership period.
PiraeuShips documented the vessel soon after her arrival in Greece.
The dedicated:
ARMENISTIS – IMO 7222229
page was published in November 2020.
This captured what would ultimately prove to be another relatively short chapter of her exceptionally long history.
During 2021, registry and ownership details changed again.
Later vessel records associate ARMENISTIS with:
United Sails / Star Mariners interests
and the:
Togo flag.
Her new port of registry became:
Lomé.
ARMENISTIS continued to appear in the Piraeus area during 2021.
She was documented at:
Drapetsona
and departing:
Piraeus / Keratsini
during October and November of that year.
Unlike IOSIF K, ARMENISTIS does not appear to have maintained sustained active commercial operation into 2026.
Current ship databases list the vessel as:
laid up
or:
in casualty / repairing status.
Recent regular AIS trading activity is not available.
Given that the vessel is now more than:
54 years old
this inactivity may represent the closing stages of her commercial career, although no confirmed demolition has been established.
ARMENISTIS was recorded by PiraeuShips in 2020 during a short but historically interesting return to Greek ownership. Built at Trosvik Verksted in Norway and entering service in 1972 as ANDERIDA, the vessel subsequently sailed as TRUCK TRADER, SEALINK and MIRELA before beginning a remarkable 33-year Canadian career as C.T.M.A. VOYAGEUR. Sold to AINAFTIS in 2020, she was renamed ARMENISTIS and transferred to the Greek flag, returning to a country with which she had already been connected during an earlier Piraeus-registered period in the 1980s. Later transferred to Togo registry and now reported laid up or under repair, the veteran Ro-Ro has survived for more than half a century. The PiraeuShips footage documents one of the final active chapters of an exceptionally well-travelled ferry.
