AEGIS is a powerful Chinese-built offshore support, anchor-handling and oil-spill-response vessel completed in 2012, which spent an important period of her career under the Greek flag and based at Piraeus.
Originally delivered as SK LINE 69, the vessel subsequently became VEGA JAANCA and JACARANDA before being acquired in 2021 by Environmental Marine Services / EPE interests and renamed AEGIS.
During her Greek period she combined offshore-support and towing capability with DPS-1, FiFi-1 and Oil Recovery Capability Class 2 notation.
The vessel has since left the Greek flag. Since late 2024 she has operated under the Brazilian flag, supporting offshore activity off Brazil while retaining the name AEGIS.

Built in Fujian
The vessel was completed at Fujian Southeast Shipyard in China on 21 December 2012.
She was designed as a multi-purpose offshore unit capable of:
anchor handling,
towing,
offshore supply,
firefighting,
dynamic-positioning operations
and emergency response.
Her combination of 62-tonne bollard pull and compact 59-metre hull made her suitable for a wide range of offshore assignments.
SK LINE 69
The vessel's first identity was:
SK LINE 69
under the Malaysian flag.
This name was relatively short-lived.
VEGA JAANCA
During 2013, SK LINE 69 became:
VEGA JAANCA
and subsequently operated under the Norwegian International Ship Register.
The vessel was associated with Vega Offshore Management, while later Greek management involvement included TMS Offshore Services.
JACARANDA
In 2017, the vessel underwent another identity change and became:
JACARANDA
under the Maltese flag.
The principal pre-Greek history can therefore be summarised as:
SK LINE 69 → VEGA JAANCA → JACARANDA.
Sold to Greek Interests
In 2021, JACARANDA was sold by TMS Offshore Services to Environmental Marine Services of Piraeus.
She was renamed:
AEGIS
and transferred to the Greek flag.
This gave the vessel a particularly appropriate new role because Environmental Marine Services specialised in marine-environmental protection and emergency response.
Oil-Spill Response Vessel
During the Greek period, EPE described AEGIS specifically as an:
Oil Recovery Vessel
with the notation:
OSRV-2
Offshore Support Vessel AH
FiFi-1
DPS-1
and:
Oil Recovery Capability Class 2.
She was classed by the American Bureau of Shipping.
62-Tonne Bollard Pull
One particularly important characteristic of AEGIS is her towing capability.
EPE's own specification gives:
62 tonnes bollard pull at 100% MCR.
This meant the ship was not merely an environmental-response vessel but a substantial offshore towing and anchor-handling unit.
Piraeus-Based Greek Career
During the period 2021–2024, AEGIS became a familiar specialist vessel in the wider Piraeus maritime area.
She was repeatedly documented at:
Perama
and elsewhere within the Piraeus ship-repair complex.
Photographs document her at Perama in 2023 and January 2024.
Transfer to Brazil
The Greek period ended during 2024.
Vessel-registration data records a change from the Greek flag during August 2024, followed by transfer to the:
Brazilian flag in November 2024.
Engineering records from the period also refer to work carried out in preparation for the vessel's transfer and sale to Brazil.
Brazilian Offshore Career
AEGIS is now part of Brazil's substantial offshore-support fleet.
The Brazilian maritime-support fleet register lists:
AEGIS
under the CAMORIM operating section, with:
FAIRYPOOLS CHARTERING CO.
identified as the vessel's real owner and the ship classified as an:
OSRV.
Still Active in 2026
AEGIS remains fully active in 2026.
Current AIS data places her off the Brazilian Atlantic coast, working between locations including:
Niterói
Macaé
and offshore oilfields in the Campos Basin.
Her current Brazilian identity is:
MMSI 710007626
Call Sign PU9021.
Piraeus Connection
AEGIS has a particularly strong Piraeus connection because the port was effectively her base during her Greek ownership period.
PiraeuShips published its dedicated AEGIS – IMO 9651321 entry in August 2021, around the beginning of her career with Environmental Marine Services.
At that time she was recorded under the Greek flag, with Piraeus as home port and ABS class.
PiraeuShips Record
AEGIS was recorded by PiraeuShips during the beginning of her Greek career in 2021. Built at Fujian Southeast Shipyard in China in 2012 as SK LINE 69, the offshore support vessel subsequently traded as VEGA JAANCA and JACARANDA before being acquired by Environmental Marine Services of Piraeus and renamed AEGIS. Under the Greek flag she combined offshore-support duties with 62-tonne bollard pull, FiFi-1 firefighting, DPS-1 capability and specialised oil-spill-response equipment. The vessel left Greek ownership and registry in 2024 and today operates under the Brazilian flag in the offshore oil sector. Still active in 2026, AEGIS gives the PiraeuShips footage particular value as a record of her relatively short but distinctive Greek chapter.
