Al Jasrah - IMO 9732321

AL JASRAH – IMO 9732321

Former UASC A15-Class Containership – Now Hapag-Lloyd Owned

AL JASRAH is a 14,993-TEU ultra-large containership built by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in South Korea in 2016 for the former United Arab Shipping Company – UASC.

At approximately 368 metres in length, 153,148 GT and more than 157,000 tonnes deadweight in Hapag-Lloyd's current fleet data, the vessel belongs to UASC's highly efficient A15 class, developed as part of the Gulf carrier's major fleet-modernisation programme during the mid-2010s.

AL JASRAH was originally delivered into the UASC network but became part of Hapag-Lloyd following the historic merger of the two liner companies in 2017.

Unlike several former UASC vessels that later adopted “Express” names, AL JASRAH has retained her original identity.

Since the original PiraeuShips entry, an important registry change has also occurred:

Marshall Islands → Liberia.

The vessel remains fully active with Hapag-Lloyd in 2026.

Built for UASC

AL JASRAH was created during an extraordinary period of fleet expansion at:

United Arab Shipping Company.

UASC ordered a new generation of large and highly efficient vessels consisting principally of:

18,800-TEU A18 ships

and:

15,000-TEU A15 ships.

AL JASRAH belonged to the latter group.

Contemporary industry reporting identified her nominal capacity as:

14,993 TEU.

UASC A15 Design

The A15 series was designed around:

lower fuel consumption,

electronic main-engine control,

improved hydrodynamics,

and significantly greater cargo capacity than UASC's previous ships.

The design represented one of the final major technical investments made by UASC before the company merged with Hapag-Lloyd.

Delivered in May 2016

The vessel was completed by:

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries

as hull:

S741.

The keel was laid in November 2015, launching followed in January 2016 and delivery took place on:

2 May 2016.

AL JASRAH therefore joined UASC's fleet during the final year before the merger process fundamentally changed the company's future.

14,993 TEU

Hapag-Lloyd's current official fleet database gives nominal capacity of:

14,993 TEU.

This places AL JASRAH just below the symbolic:

15,000-TEU

threshold.

At delivery she was among the larger containerships in regular global liner service.

153,148 GT

Current Hapag-Lloyd particulars give:

153,148 GT

and:

157,375 tonnes deadweight.

The original PiraeuShips database carried:

149,360 DWT,

which reflects earlier technical-register information for the vessel.

For the updated article, Hapag-Lloyd's present official figure of:

157,375 t

is the preferable current reference.

UASC → Hapag-Lloyd

The defining corporate event in AL JASRAH's career came in:

2017,

when United Arab Shipping Company was integrated into:

Hapag-Lloyd.

AL JASRAH consequently became part of one of the world's largest container-shipping fleets.

Hapag-Lloyd's own financial documentation subsequently listed AL JASRAH among the company's owned vessels.

Hapag-Lloyd Ownership

The current ownership position is now particularly clear.

Hapag-Lloyd's official fleet page lists AL JASRAH directly in its fleet, while U.S. Coast Guard financial-responsibility records dated 2026 identify:

HAPAG-LLOYD AG

as owner of IMO 9732321.

The old PiraeuShips ownership information should therefore no longer show UASC as the present owner.

Marshall Islands → Liberia

When PiraeuShips published AL JASRAH in:

August 2022,

the vessel was shown under the:

Marshall Islands flag

with:

MMSI 538005845.

That has changed.

The vessel now sails under:

Liberia

with:

MMSI 636093137

and:

Call Sign 5LIJ8.

This is one of the most important updates required in the original article.

Current ISM Company

Current statutory certification issued under the Liberian flag identifies:

RHL Reederei Hamburger Lloyd GmbH & Co. KG

as the ISM company responsible for the vessel.

The Safety Management Certificate is currently valid through:

20 April 2028,

subject to the normal periodic verification requirements.

Still Active in 2026

AL JASRAH remains firmly in active liner employment.

Current schedules in 2026 continue to show the vessel within:

Hapag-Lloyd

and partner:

Maersk

service networks, with further sailings already scheduled into late October.

A January 2026 photograph at:

Rijeka

also confirms her continuing active service under the current Liberia / Hapag-Lloyd configuration.

PiraeuShips Record

PiraeuShips published:

AL JASRAH – IMO 9732321

in:

August 2022.

At that point the page recorded:

Marshall Islands flag

153,148 GT

149,360 DWT

368 m length

and construction by:

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

The ship was already commercially associated with Hapag-Lloyd, but much of the vessel database still reflected her earlier UASC corporate history.

PiraeuShips Record

AL JASRAH was recorded by PiraeuShips during the post-UASC chapter of one of the Gulf carrier's final major newbuilding programmes. Delivered by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in May 2016, the 368-metre vessel belongs to the UASC A15 design and has a nominal capacity of 14,993 TEU. Only a year after delivery, UASC merged with Hapag-Lloyd and AL JASRAH became part of the German carrier's global liner fleet while retaining her original name. Since the 2022 PiraeuShips entry, the vessel has transferred from the Marshall Islands to the Liberian flag and today sails with MMSI 636093137 and call sign 5LIJ8. Hapag-Lloyd's current fleet data gives 153,148 GT and 157,375 tonnes deadweight, while 2026 schedules confirm that AL JASRAH remains fully active on major international services. The PiraeuShips footage therefore preserves the vessel during an important transitional period between her UASC origins and her present Hapag-Lloyd identity.
